Due to the different opportunities presented to Black and Latino players before integration, the Hall Rating of these players does not accurately reflect their Hall of Fame cases. When possible, the Hall of Stats uses Eric Chalek’s Negro League MLEs to present an alternate Hall Rating for prominent early Black and Latino stars. Nip Winters has a 52 Hall Rating using these MLEs. The rest of the stats on this page come from real game data, not MLEs.

|About the stats|
Over the course of his career, Nip Winters pitched 1,114 innings and made 706 plate appearances. Winters was worth 29.1 Wins Above Replacement (24.9 as a pitcher and 4.2 as a hitter) and 19.1 Wins Above Average (15.7 as a pitcher and 3.4 as a hitter).
After adjusting for length of schedule, catchers, and relief pitchers, the 29.1 WAR becomes 33.4 adjWAR. Then, WAA is adjusted by ignoring negative seasons (thus, truly capturing a player’s peak seasons) and making similar adjustments for catchers and relief pitchers. After these adjustments, the 19.1 WAA becomes 18.7 adjWAA.
Then, the adjWAR and adjWAA are combined, but with extra weighting given to adjWAA. This gives Winters 67.1 wWAR. wWAR is then converted to Hall Rating. A Hall Rating of 100 represents the Hall of Stats borderline (similar to OPS+ or wRC+, where 100 represents league average).
Nip Winters has a Hall Rating of 63, leaving him short of induction to the Hall of Stats.
